Landscapes > Intimacies Series

These color images of seemingly arbitrary places are linked within the memory of the photographer. The work uses this prevailing theme and embedded references in portraying where something occurred. The Intimacies Series is a photographic examination of rooftops, automobiles and alleys of which only minor consideration was taken until the camera was involved in making the image. An act of intimacy lead to the discovery of these public locations; returning at night, days, months or even several years later these scenes were recorded using landscapes as a platform, and a 6 X 9 camera the tool to express an idea. As described by W.J.T. Mitchell: “landscape circulates as medium of exchange, a site of the visual appropriation, a focus for the formation of identity." These images act as a visual journey into the memory.
